Construction Administration

The Construction Administration Department at SDL has registered Professional Engineers with a broad background in construction practices. SDL’s field engineers help insure that the civil and structural portions of projects are constructed in accordance with the design intent as set forth in the contract drawings and specifications and are well prepared to respond rapidly to construction-related problems.

Field engineers assigned to a project begin with a thorough familiarization of the project to insure a seamless transition of project information between the design and construction phases. The field engineers collaborate with the project managers and design engineers frequently when responding to RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings, and solving construction-related problems.

Site visits are scheduled to observe work at key phases of construction. An Engineering Observation report is prepared after each site visit. Deficiencies noted during the construction phase are followed up by SDL until their resolution is documented. SDL’s field engineers also coordinate work with testing/ inspection agencies and Special Inspectors to insure the owner that the site and structures meet building code standards.
